Terms of service

Welcome to Author To You® by Dean Publishing. By joining our platform to display, distribute, print, and sell your books, you agree to the following conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use this service.

Registration & Accounts

  • Authors must provide complete and accurate details when registering.

  • Authors are responsible for keeping login information secure and for all activity under their account.

  • Any suspected unauthorised use must be reported immediately to Dean Publishing support.

  • Fees:

    • $120 setup fee (first year).

    • After the first year: $10 per month OR $99 annually, billed upfront.

    • Cancel anytime.

Earnings & Royalties

  • Authors receive royalties instantly upon sale, paid directly to their nominated account.

  • Royalties = Recommended Retail Price (RRP) minus costs (printing, picking, packing, shipping).

  • Commission statements are available via the Author Dashboard.

  • Authors are solely responsible for tax reporting and obligations.

Confidentiality & Reader Data

  • Dean Publishing will treat Author materials with confidentiality.

  • Authors may market to their Readers but must not misuse contact details.

  • All marketing emails must include an easy unsubscribe option.

Ownership & Licensing

  • By using Author To You®, Authors grant permission for the platform to host, print, fulfil, and sell their works as directed.

  • Intellectual property, trademarks, and software remain the property of their rightful owners (e.g., Amazon or partners).

  • Author To You® is not the buyer or seller of books — contracts are between Author and Reader.

Pricing & Promotions

  • Authors decide their book pricing and can update it at any time.

  • Discount codes, special offers, and promotions are managed through the Admin team. Requests may be submitted for approval.

  • Recommended retail guidance may be offered but is optional.

Book Production & Delivery

  • Author To You® works with approved printers and distributors for on-demand book production.

  • Orders are printed and shipped directly to Customers.

  • Bulk or wholesale orders can be arranged separately under additional guidelines.

Account Suspension or Termination

  • Dean Publishing may suspend or cancel any account that breaches these Terms.

  • Royalties earned prior to suspension/termination will still be paid if Terms are met.

Platform Usage Rules

  • The platform must be used only for legal and respectful purposes.

  • Content that is unlawful, offensive, defamatory, or infringing on others’ rights is prohibited.

  • Accounts breaching these rules may be suspended or closed.

Refunds

  • All sales are final.

  • Customers must notify support within 10 days if an item is defective.

  • Setup and subscription fees for Authors are non-refundable.

Key Definitions

  • Author To You® (ATY): The service provided by Dean Publishing for Authors to sell books and manage payouts.

  • Author/Writer: Any individual or organisation publishing through ATY.

  • Customer/Reader: Any person purchasing books via an Author’s ATY link.

  • Material/Content: Files, manuscripts, images, or data uploaded by Authors.

Limits of Responsibility

  • Author To You® operates with care and professionalism but cannot guarantee sales or outcomes.

  • Liability is limited to the fees paid by the Author to ATY in the past 12 months, except where required by Australian law.

Reader Guidelines

  • Customers must pay in full at checkout.

  • Books are printed on demand and shipped within estimated timelines (shipping times may vary).

  • Readers must not misuse the platform or disrupt services.

Applicable Law

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia.

  • Any disputes will be resolved under Australian jurisdiction.

Donations & Giving Back

  • By joining Author To You®, Authors agree that a portion of sales will support the Buy1Give1 (B1G1) initiative.

  • A fixed donation of $0.10–$0.40 USD per transaction will be made.

  • Authors can select which B1G1 project their contribution supports.
